Adaptive Cruise Control

Finally got to try out the adaptive cruise control on my new 2014 GC Limited. One word..."awesome!" I have never felt so trusting of an automatic device in all my life. I will use this option anytime I'm driving on highways or freeways from now on.

Anyone else have any input? Just curious what others think.

Used it on the day-1 roadtrip last saturday. Worked much better than I thought it would. makes for a much more relaxing (of possibly a bit slower) ride.

Looking forward to giving it a good workout on the trip to Carlisle next week.

I've clocked many miles using ACC. It's amazing. If only the steering wheel would be automated... lol

I use it just about every day. I used it extensively on our 2400 mile round trip to UT via Nebraska and Wyoming. Love it. Do wish it had the ability to bring you to a full stop and then tap the throttle to start back up again like some other cars can do, but it is still pretty good.

I use mine all the time on the highway, it's nice because you can use the gas to speed up around people and it drops right back into place. I wish it would stop and go in traffic though and that it did more coasting instead of braking when traffic slows down. It certainly makes driving a little more lazy and I find myself with my feet up against the seat as a passenger.

I love the ACC feature. It does take some time to get used to monitoring traffic in front since it's so subtle in backing off when you start to close on someone right in front of you if the speed differential isn't much or the party leading slows down, um...slowly. Otherwise, ACC combined with the forward collision sensing is awesome for highway travel.

Of course, when I drive my wife's Outback Limited, I have to remember I don't have ACC. LOL

Might have to move to the new S Class for that.

I used it yesterday for the first time on a 300 mile trip. Very impressed.

It's one of those features that you have to try and experience and then you go 'wow, how flipping awesome is this?'

One step closer to 'trust in your vehicle to get you home safely' Love it and will consider adding it to whatever vehicle I purchase in the future.

Re: Adaptive Cruise Control

I had ACC in my 2012 overland, and I agree that it works great for what it was intended to do. However, when I traded my '12 in for a '14, I purposefully looked for a jeep without the tech package because i personally didnt like using the ACC. I guess I just like the feel of being in control of my car. I absolutely hated when I was on the highway and someone would come into my lane in front of me (they weren't breaking in front of me or slowing down, just getting into my lane) and my jeep would throw on the brakes! There were just too many situations where it braked when i didn't want it to. But like i said, it's good tech for those who want it.

I truly understand what you're saying, however, ACC only works when you activate it, so why wouldn't you want to at least have the option???
