HID Help

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

Need some advice, I have bought a 9006 low beam HID kit and taken the bumper, grill and headlight off to fit it. I was expecting it to be plug and play but the connection didnt seem to be right. It was getting dark so I put it all back together and contacted the supplier who insists I have the right kit. Before I take everything apart again to double check, could you HID experts give me your verdict if this is the correct kit or not?

Re: HID Help

where is your relay harness. for HIDs to work on the jeep you need a relay harness. as your supplier for one.

those look like a H10 base ( fogs ), u can still make it work..... file down the areas that prevents it from going in the groove.

So I took my headlights out and it turns out that I have H11 bulbs in my low beams! Must be a UK spec change they made to the car!?! Its really strange cos the manual and everywhere else has referred to the 9006! Oh well at least I know now....

Re: HID Help

^^ was gonna tell you that mate. The export grand cherokee(WH) low beams are not 9006. They are H11.
Same thing happened to me. Don't know about modifying the 9006 bulb making it fit. I simply bought another kit with H11 bulbs :(

Yep am just contacting my HID supplier, hopefully he will do a straight swap over. I didnt fancy modifying the bulbs...

Do I definitely have to have a relay on my low beams? My supplier assures me I dont, but then he doesnt know GC's!

Re: HID Help

As Scott say. Relay harness is a must. If you get any failure or flickering with relay harness installed, you could also add a resistor. Like this

Hope they switch it out for you.

Re: HID Help

Wondering if that resistor will fix my problem with the dang flickering, I just installed my 5k lows and once i finished, i turned them on and had gay flicker! I am using a harness..
I hate when stuff doesn't go right. :(

Re: HID Help

Should have started a new thread to help me with my question instead of using the search function..
I bought 2 50 watt 6 ohm resistors that should help the problem, the problem is.. do i use both or just one and do i connect it on the drivers side since it's the one drawing the power??
