Painting Bilstein's
Hello all! I just purchased a new set of Bilstein's for my 2006 WK. In an effort to maintain the "stock" look, I sanded, primed and painted my new shocks a flat black. For the plastic portion of the shock, I used an adhesion promoter before painting. I noticed that where I had taped off the stainless top mount, I had missed the very top plastic portion of the shock. I was sure it wouldn't bother me, and had them installed. I just picked my Jeep up, and I can really notice the Bilstein blue I missed.
What are my options here, short of pulling the shocks back off? I had considered taping/newspapering everything off in the wheel well and giving the tops a quick spray of adhesion promoter topped with flat black, but I have some reservations regarding the overspray. I have even considered spraying a fine tipped paint brush or nail polish applicator, but want to retain the smooth, flat look achieved by spraying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
