2014 keyfob not detected problem?

This has happened 2-3 times now where I unlock the door by grabbing the door handle, but when I sit in the seat it tells me the keyfob is not detected. This latest time I pulled the key out of my pocket and it still didn't detect it. Thinking I would just get out, lock and unlock the car and get back in and try it, I opened the door. Then the alarm started going off. I finally got that to stop and then got back in and it seemed to work fine. Anybody else run into this? My keyfob was in the opposite pocket as my phone, but in my pocket closest to the door. I also had it in the same pocket as my work badge, which is an rfid type thing. I can't remember if this was the case the previous times. Has this happened to anybody else?

Yes, I posted the same thing a week or two ago, alarm and all. It was a one time thing, so far. It's just another Jeep confidence builder. :(

I had the fob in the same pocket as usual.

Glad to hear I am not the only one. Hopefully the round of upcoming software updates for remote start and outside temp will fix this issue as well.

Check and clean your FOB battery and connection points. My Challenger has done this before. I just poped it open and wiped the battery and used an eraser to clean the contact points. They don't seem to make a tight contatct so any little bit can cause it to not get the full voltage. At least this is something easy and free you can try.

Someone posted couple of days ago that the battery in the key fob has nothing to do with key detection.

2014 GC Overland here - leased last week. This may not be everybody's issue. But I have confirmed that my cell phone will interfere with the cars recognition of the key fob if they are in the same pocket. This will cause the door handle lock button to not work, as well as the grab handle passive entry unlock - and probably other things - I know my alarm activated at one point after I tried using the passive handle grab entry. Cell phone (Android w/Bluetooth) and key fob in different pockets - all of my issues go away - 100%. I have tested this for 2 days now. I actually found this issue on another Jeep forum and that sent me down the path to test it out. So I am not the only person with this specific problem. Same thing happening to some with iPhones, too. All with fob and phone in same pocket. DJ

Really?!?? Oh I'm trying this. I've had it ignore me after entry, perhaps, twice now, but I'm more afflicted by the passive entry failing, or the "lock" button on the handle failing. Very interesting. I can easily see the phone shielding the FOB in my pocket.

Thanks for the tip.

This would happen with my Acura, took me a bit but I eventually put 2 and 2 together and realized my cell was interfering. Once I started keeping them in separate pockets the issue went away.

I've also had this happen. My doors wouldn't unlock, nor lock at different times. This past week my vehicle wouldn't start. One time it took 2x and another 5x to get it started. I always carry my fob in my left coat pocket and my phone in the right. I also had my spare in my pocketbook, which I wasn't aware of until after I called the Dealership and asked them to come get it. They did the most recent recall with the 2 hour computer update. I just got it back last night so time will tell if they've worked out all the issues. I was hoping the tightening on the ground wire would take care of my FM radio static and XM cutting out, but alas that's not the case. I'm now hoping they will replace the radio altogether so I can for once enjoy the 19 speakers they rave about.
