The Beast is Back

The first 15 months of ownership of my 2012 GC SRT-8 have gone by so quickly. Nothing lasts forever and at 28,000 the stock Pirelli all-season tires were shot as well as the front brakes and rotors. Gave a lot of thought as what to do and decided if "baby was going to get a new pair of shoes" to stick with the Pirellis. Also decided to reorder the stock Brembo rotors, but I did switch to the Hawk performance ceramics brake pads - the brake dust was quite simply too much to deal with.

While my truck was in the shop CORSA finally released the polished version (14466) of their new exhaust (about $200 cheaper than the 14466BLK). Since I was already taking a hit to replace the tires, brakes and rotors, I said to myself "what the heck" and pulled the trigger and had the exhaust shipped directly to my mechanic. Well you can't have a new exhaust without having a CAI. Along with many others, I waited for MOPAR to release their CAI for the GC SRT8 to no avail, finally throwing up my hands and going with the INJEN.

Well I picked The Beast up this morning and she was like a new truck. The CORSA and INJEN made for some sweet sounds (worth the price of admission alone) and the throttle response was noticeably better. I know some think the exhaust tips of the CORSA are too small; I'll have to respectfully disagree on that one. I really couldn't feel much, if any, difference on the braking end and if the ceramics cut the dust back I can live with a little less bite. Lastly the new Pirellis restored my confidence in the handling and smoothed out the ride to just like when she was new 15 months ago.

CORSA and BORLA are both great exhausts. One of CORSA's big selling points with all their exhausts is "no drone". In that regard, with other cars I own, as well as the GC SRT-8, I can tell you there is no drone.

Hopefully SRT hasn't taken a page from GM and started using shitty built rotors that warp faster than Al Sharpton chasing social news stories.
