2014 Overland so far so good
I though I would post this to give some balance because there is so much negative on here about different issues people have been having. I have about 4500 miles on my overland and have had it almost 5 months. I can say I really have not had any real issues with it. If I really wanted to pick and find something I can say I have had the air suspension cooling down message twice and I have a slight rattle in the center arm rest cover and once in a while my interior lights are slow to come on for some reason. The uconnect I am still on version 13.05 and had thought about updating but I am not having any issues so I thought I would leave well enough alone and not touch it at this point. The transmission is smooth for the most part I wish it didn't help me with the braking at low speed but it's not that big of a deal, it's never harsh though as some have complained about. I keep waiting for the wheels to fall off after reading these threads on this site, but so far so good. There is also another 14 in our family it's a Limited and I asked them about it and its had no issues at all. So I'm not really sure how many have problems out there it seems like a lot from reading on here, but I'm wondering of it might be misleading.

Re: 2014 Overland so far so good
Same exact scenario for me. I have had no issues since I picked up my Overland in March (still also running 13.05) and LOVE the damn thing but quite seriously am contemplating getting rid of it because of the many horror stories on this thread. I almost expect something bad to happen every time I drive the car which is a horrible feeling to have with a practically brand new vehicle. I don't care about taking a hit on depreciation because I've done it many times before. But I cannot handle the thought of getting stranded somewhere or having to put up with the frustrations that many other posters on these threads have had to deal with. One member posted a video on another thread of his JGC (and this was his SECOND defective JGC, Chrysler took back the first) acting crazy as he was driving, forcing him to pull off to the side of the rode. The horn was blaring, the rear windshield wiper was going crazy, the lights were blinking. At one point, he turned off the ignition, got out of the car with the key fob and all of that nonsense was still going on, as if the car was possessed. I know all new cars have bugs but these threads are ridiculous with the amount of issues people are having. I don't buy the theory that it's a small sample size etc. I have been part of many car forums over the years and have never seen this many issues for a car. I guess the theory is true, you should wait a year before purchasing a "redesign". Like I said, I LOVE this truck, but I am dumbfounded by what I am reading here.

I don't think I would get rid of a vehicle because of problems I read about on an internet forum. I think if I wasn't having any problems and I like the vehicle I would be happy.

Re: 2014 Overland so far so good
I'm relatively new here, but when you read these problems and and how bad they are and everyone posting about how bad it could be I feel like its easy to get caught up in the "I have a ticking time bomb" - but when I look around (going back a couple months) I'm counting maybe 3 or 4 people posting about legit suspension failures (not what is considered a normal warning message about cooling) 2 where the car has died presumably of computer issues, and some number with failed screens (working assumption seems to be a bad batch).

When I sit back and look at those numbers vs. the number of folks posting here vs. the number of wk2s I see everyday I feel reassured. I'm not seeing 10 dead JGCs on the highway everyday and as with every manufacture, this is the the old some are ringers, most middle of the road, some duds.

With a few exceptions people go on forums to post the newest thing they got, ask a question, or say something is wrong and they need help. You don't usually see people signing up just to say everything's perfect.

Re: 2014 Overland so far so good
to the OP you know you posted this in the sub forum where people post about there problems right? You may be the lucky one to not have any problems (well you do and you able to live with them) but some people are going through some serious stuff and they want to vent and gain information on how to handle the issue(s). Also some people feel that they shouldn't have to put up with certain things because of the price of the truck. I can see what you are trying to do in defending the truck but honestly this shouldn't be posted in the sub forum for problems. just sayn

From what I understand, most people post when there is a problem. If we were to look at the overall picture, I think that what is posted is actually a small percentage of what is on the road (or trail).

Re: 2014 Overland so far so good
Good to hear you are enjoying your Overland.

One of the things you mentioned "if you really wanted to pick" might not even be an issue. This is listed at the bottom of the recall/tsb page at

"Quadra-Lift - Air Suspension Over Temperature Message in the Electronic Vehicle Information Center
When the air suspension compressor has to run for a significant period of time or the air suspension system is being used a lot by the driver, the compressor may need to cool down. This is normal and should not require service. There are times when the system will need to make up a significant amount of air. This can occur with large changes in ambient air temperature or if service has been done on the system and lost air has not been replaced. A message will be displayed on the EVIC indicating the compressor is cooling down and there will be a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) set. The DTC in the ASCM module does not necessarily indicate service is needed. If the EVIC message and DTC occurs often, it may be an indication of a leak in the system."

Re: 2014 Overland so far so good
I have 1600 miles on my 14 Overland and have been more than happy so far. Issues so far are alignment is slightly off and a little shake on highway that I hope is just a tire balance.
