Hid lights 2014 cherokee limited issues
Hello everyone I was hoping for some insight
From the more Knowledgable. I just installed
A rather cheap hid kit in my truck and the Install went rather smooth despite the amount of room my hand had to manipulate the lights.
Ok so the lights work until I start driving, (daytime running lights off) in amount a mile they flicker than go off completely for a while. After some rest time they work again. I can cycle them on/off many times with no issues and I would unlock the car from the fob
Just to see if they would go on.
So I repeated this a couple of times before I started to check things out. I thought possibly vibrations could be the issue so I checked the wiring and I shook the ballast while they were not working but nothing changed. I measured the voltage going into the ballast and it was 6v. This is while the car was off and I used the fob
Unlock button to turn on lights. I even installed the stock halogen but no go. Without changing anything else I started the car and the stock
Halogens went on. So for now I'm safe with halogens but the hids wouldn't stay on.
My question now is could it be that the jeep is temperamental or detecting a change in amperage and not allowing the hids to work or are these just cheap crap ballasts that just need to go?

Thank you guys.

Did you install the canbus fix? Its a capacitor to trick the computer so that the lights function normally. Don't know the details but many have said it is crucial to normal light function.

Hello Shelton,

I was just reading up on something about what your mentioned. I'm using the phone app to navigate through the site and its blinding me. But I was able to read about these caps you've mentioned and it would make absolute sense because at the moment the hids wouldn't fire the halogens didn't work as well until a few moments after.
I just ordered a pair of error elm caps from eBay and I will install them most likely next week. I will post my results.

All went well. The caps fixed the issue at hand. Thank you.
