On the fence about installing Kicker Subwoofer
so, a few years back I bought a slightly used single (WK) kicker subwoofer including the wiring, it is still in the box it was shipped in. I thought I'd want to install it but I don't like the loss of rear cargo area, plus my WK hauls mostly family so I doubt I will get it thumping very much. The WK kicker subwoofer is discontinued now, Jeep Grand Cherokee WK - Kicker speakers and amplifier upgrade
do any of you that use your WK for family hauling have WK kicker subwoofer installed and think it's worth it?
Re: On the fence about installing Kicker Subwoofer
I don't have the Kicker system, but I installed a sealed box with a 12" Alpine Type R sub in it, concealing the amp and wiring in the tool tray. It takes up the same amount of cargo space as the Kicker system, maybe even more.
The sub upgrade was worth every penny and blood/sweat/tears that it took me installing the thing. If you're an audiophile like me, or just appreciate good SQ, you need a decent sub in the WK. Mine's got a perfect harmonic blend with a full sound spectrum now and the loss of cargo space doesn't make that big of a difference.
In either case, the Kicker system is pretty modular (because the amp is attached to the sub), so you can just disconnect the system and use the extra cargo space during those "long family trips," etc.
I had the single kicker in my wk. It was plenty of bump for a geezer. It was simple to remove when I wanted the space back. Honestly do not see any negatives with installing it. I would be sure to get the remainder of the kicker parts too as the whole package is a good upgrade.
