Differential issue

I have a 2004 overland front diff makes a groaning noise when turning sharp right. I changed the fluid using royal purple with friction modifier and still no difference. Has anybody else has this issue?

Re: Differential issue

Welcome to the garage.
When you changed the fluid, did you see any metal in it?
Could eventually be a CV joint in one of the two drive shafts. Check the rubber boots, when torn the CV joint is probably shot.
Also noise which seems to be coming from the front diff, could eventually come from the T-case. Check fluid level in there first.
Was the right amount of friction modifier used?

Thank you.
No i did not see metal shavings in the fluid just what was stuck on the magnet
Just checked CV boots no signs of it being torn on both sides
Transfer-case fluid is the only thing that i haven't changed yet and i should probably check the fluid
The Royal Purple diff fluid i put in them said on the bottle that it already contained friction modifier in it. Maybe its not enough?

In my experience both royal purple and amsoil severe gear have enough friction modifier to keep the diffs quiet. I would definitely drain and refill the transfer case, make sure you use the stuff from the dealer (or a compatible hydraulic fluid like mobil 424 or amsoil hydraulic tractor oil), the quadra trac and quadra drive cases will not work with transmission fluid like other cases.
