SRT Trailer hitch?
So my much loved 07 Overland was written off last Thursday by a F**ker in a black Mercedes sedan- totally his fault and he was charged- lucky for him the officer was on scene immediately because as the cobwebs cleared I was closing in on him. I walked away with just shoulder rash from the seatbelt and some neck stiffness for a few days. Anyways- found out yesterday my Jeep is totalled as I suspected. Looking hard but not easy to find another just like her- or even better a few years newer. Can a hitch be put on a SRT8 easily- I need to tow my fishing boat...

Re: SRT Trailer hitch?
Yes, but it will have to be modified, along with the exhaust, if it's stock. The SRT rear bumper is "deeper" than the Overland one, and the Overland hitch has to be lowered about an inch and a half. I am about to do this myself (Overland with SRT front/rear bumpers). So far I've just been to lazy to do it. Also, if you want to get anywhere near the stock load capacity, you'll have to reinforce it. The Mopar SRT-8 hitch is rated much lower than the stock Overland hitch on an Overland. One more thing, you need to know that the bumper covers will have to come off to remove the hitch bolts on the Overland, and to install the hitch onto the SRT-8.

Re: SRT Trailer hitch?
Keep in mind with an srt8 due to the tranny you can only tow around 3500 lbs max where as your overland could have towed 7200. How heavy was your boat?

Re: SRT Trailer hitch?
Transmission should not be a problem. My Diesel WK has the same transmission and is rated for towing 7200 lbs.
