First Upgrades ...

I picked up my '12 SRT8 last Wednesday, and by then had received a 3M chip guard kit and Hawk ceramic brake pads.

I decided to install the chip guard myself, to save on the hefty installation costs. The kit was pretty easy to install on the front bumper, fenders, headlights, and grille. I ran into problems covering the mirrors and lower front spoiler. The 3M material fought me every time I tried to shape it over the curved surfaces. But after three or four tries, I finally got the mirrors & spoiler covered. Whew!

Here's a pic of the final install. You can't see the chip guard film or the edges until you get up real close, and that's a good thing.:D

I got the front & rear ceramic brake pads installed today, and thoroughly cleaned the brake calipers and the wheels. It was the first time I've seen the wheels that clean. Hopefully, they'll stay this way with the new pads.

Looks great man! That clear bra is the next thing to do on the list. After that it's the ceramic pads!!! Great looking car!

Re: First Upgrades ...

looks brilliant, good choice on the ceramic pads, let us know how they turn out, a friend has them on his 13 cayenne, and the brake dust is still there, but no where near my stock Brembo's, also take it to the track and let us know how long they last, I always dread the heat fade on the Brembo's, I have been pleasantly surprised so far, but I imagine under track conditions, after a few fast laps, the Brembo's will have a hard time coping and the ceramic pads will be worth every last dollar.

Just got back from a full day of big city & highway driving. The new Hawk ceramic pads are awesome. Great stopping power & very little brake dust. The wheels actually still look clean.

Looks good, now get some front tints (provided they are legal)!
