Accidentally Reset My Oil Life

I am currently at 4,000 miles and now my oil life says 99% good, is there a way to go back? or should i just change the oil at 5,000. (2014 Jeep GC Laredo)

Don't worry about it. Just log your mileage/time. There's no way to go back. The owner's manual says to change by whichever comes first: 6 months, X amount of miles, or OLM. If you haven't changed it yet, I would (but that's just me).

I agree, just make believe you never had this feature and change the oil accordingly. Then reset it and go from there. Mine was reset when they replaced the PCM. They didn't reset it when they changed the oil. :)

I am curious. What were you doing that you accidentally reset it? I thought the procedure was one of the silliest things ever, but figured it was designed to prevent accidents.

I was changing my headlights and disconnected the ECM and when I was all finished, like a bonehead I started the car without reconnecting the two tabs. (Big brain fart) my check engine light went on and I googled how to reset it without disconnecting the battery and someone posted instructions but it turned out to be the wrong instructions. It was actually to reset the oil life lol. I'm glad this is the only thing I have to worry about! I ended up having to disconnect the battery to get rid of the check engine light.

Never trust what you rad on the internet, even from me ... but;

Normally if the error no longer exists, the check engine light will go off by itself after some predetermined number of starts. :)
