5.7 Performance

So I was doing some light reading on allpar about the Hemi engine and noticed the performance upgrade section which is copied below. I know it is specified for the LX models but is there any reason why some of it would work on the jeep? I'm specifically interested in the transmission controller and the powertrain controller. I think an after market cam would be a better choice then a mopar one....

Your thoughts, as always, are appreciated.

Performance kit

The 2006 5.7L HEMI Stage 1 Upgrade Kit:
  • Street Performance Camshaft and Lifter Kit (P5153570) — designed for 2005–06 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum R/T, Dodge Charger R/T.
  • Transmission Controller Upgrade (P5153332) — optimized shift schedule works with our Street Performance cam, higher shift points and AutoStick® control.
  • Powertrain Controller Upgrade (P5153331) — features optimized fueling and spark settings to take full advantage of the 5.7L Hemi Performance Camshaft (P5153325) included in the Performance Camshaft and Lifters Kit.
  • Cold Air Intake System (77060003) — forces colder, denser air into the combustion chambers for added power. Designed for 2004–06 5.7L Hemi.
  • Exhaust Headers (P5153456) — these extra-long headers result in an estimated 14-to-17 horsepower gain when used with catalytic converters. For use with 2005-2006 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger R/T and Dodge Magnum R/T.

As long as it's for the 5.7 it will transplant if it will fit (Mechanical items not electrical items as we have a different CAN BUS)

Will work but you will need to get a tune for it. Aftermarket offers more.

Nope different CAN BUS system.

Will work no problem, no tune needed.

Will bolt up but will NOT fit the Grand Cherokee Engine bay. :slapfight:
Contact Anthony or Nick at AR Headers for a set made for the Jeep. AR Headers are now the official Mopar headers.

Answers in red

Re: 5.7 Performance

Ok well that settles that. I didn't realize we had a different can bus. But I guess that is expected...

Do you know of any way to make the 5.7 auto stick function more like the 6.1 auto stick? I always thought they where the same system until I drove m4xm1l10n's srt. His autostick will drop you into the gear you are currently in when you tap left. Mine will always start in 4th gear...

Thanks for your clarification on the CAN bus issue

Not sure if you can make it act the same, as the 5.7's and the SRT's have totally different driveline setups. If you want to go to the lowest gear that is safe for your trans in the 5.7 simply hold it to the left and it will drop into it. If you hold right it will go back to drive or tap up and down from there.

This is a great way to squeeze another 100HP out of your HEMI
