Weak A/C Blower

Hey guys,

My 07 GC's AC has blown really weak since I bought it. Its decently cold, but even at full power i cant even feel it unless I put my hand right in front of it...

It's blowing loudly, like there should be the normal torrent of air at full blast, but its not there.

Is it any easy tear apart and check? I'm assuming there's a broken vent selector somewhere in there because it's making the full blown noise but no air... I'm just debating whether I should try it myself or take it in?

I'm in alabama and even with it on full blast with A/C on it's still not bearable to be in my jeep on a 90 degree day.... so frustrating.

This happened quite some times on the WJ, but not sure its also the case on the WK: maybe the blower motor resistor/controller was changed before you bought it and they swapped two wires on it, making the blower motor to rotate in opposite direction and almost not blowing any air (but making the normal noise).
If this is not the problem, maybe a broken recirculation door. (you can see that if you remove the blower motor and look up)

would you know where to find some diagrams of the vent system in a wk? I've been searching around for some visual aids to help me get started in lookin at this but I havent found any

Is the blower motor located under the hood against the firewall, directlynin line with then battery?

Do a search on the "blend door" actuator. I believe it's a problem on many WKs.

No, the blower motor is behind the glove box.

To all that suggested blend doors... it was a main blend door that was broken half shut. I just pulled it out and now the 95 degree days are bearable! I had to pull the plastic engine compartment trim up by the windshield and hood hinge on the passanger side.

The blender door was right there, just under the front tweeter area. Good thing I checked there first cause getting at the others (and to actually fix it rather than rip it out) would require taking the entire dash out...

But one thing I noticed was the noise... before I fixed It it was really loud blowing noise by that passanger tweeter, caused by the obstructed flow of the blender door. After the fix the noise was gone. Moral of the story, if you have blender door problems, listen for a wooshing focused noise In the blower system that might indicate obstructed ducts.

I'm not familiar with the WK, but are you sure it was a blend door and not the recirculation door? A failing blend door would normally cause air with one temperature only, but not a flow problem.

It might have been. Idk which type of door it was. All I know iwas under the plastic trim by the hood hinge/windshield/windshield whiper hinge area

That sounds like the cabin air filter/outside air intake area. According to what I've read here, the blend door gear is further in, and accessible through the glove box, after removing the door.

Yep, ita right behind the grill where you'd install a cabin air filter. I guess they are an additional option for GCs of my year and mine didnt have one. But yes, remove at grill and you see the blend door that was broke. If its right behind the glove box, that might be an easy fix.

It was most probably the recirculation door, it will close of the external air and let the air recirculate inside the cabin.
