West Aussie 2014 Overland CRD Owner

Hi all,

I'm a long time Toyota 4WD owner who's just bought into the Jeep brand with a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland CRD. The car drives very nicely and puts my V6 petrol Prado to shame with both acceleration and fuel economy. I primarily purchased for longer distance towing capabilities, moderate off-road and the vehicle's up to date styling.

My main questions at this point are:

- Is the genuine / OEM towing system the only solution where reversing sensors are involved? I do not want to be pressing the silence button every ignition cycle through summer! I'm led to believe the Jeep wiring solution senses the trailer present and automatically silences the rear sensors... yes?

- Am I out of luck with front recovery points? I'm not sure what I would have received if I'd waited and ordered the ORII pack, but a quick read indicates it might have been a box of nothing with a blank look from the dealer

- Can I fit 17's? If not, where's the cheapest source for some nasy 18's for off-road trips? I don't plan to be bogged in sand and blaming the 4WD system when the 20's are at fault :D

- Lastly, and my major gripe... is that the voice recognition doesn't operate the navigation system. Jeep AU basically told me to get lost when I contacted them to discuss that I wasn't made aware of the voice recognition shortcoming. I was, however, totally aware that the Nav wouldn't accept data entry whilst moving but I thought I could learn to work with the VR system. I'm currently trying to find out whether override/hack devices will work with the Overland's 8.4A(?) navigation system. Lockpick sent me the most negative email... ever... and Nav TV have been extremely positive regarding a development system nearing completion.

That's about it. Oh... and "hi" from West Aussie! :)

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve, the minimum wheel to fit over the rotors is 18"s

The other question may be answered by others, I see you have posted the same questions in two different threads.

Kudos to you for reading all of that other thread first.
There are two threads that may answer your questions

Thanks Snuke, I couldn't search until joining... but I appreciate you saving me the time looking. The site is overwhelmingly humongous!

It wasn't my intention to cross post. My new members stuff was really about my reason for joining. In other forums I'm a member of, often the new member stuff isn't heavily read...

Again, thanks for the directions ;)

Cheers,
Steve

So my Voice Recognition works with the Nav in my 2012 Overland, have they now disabled it? I must admit it's clunky but that's the whole system though better than the wifes 2012 C Class Merc - though it cost less than the Jeep.

Sege I'm no Jeep expert... yet... but I do believe no-ones MY14 Nav responds to voice, aside from getting to the main navigation screen.

Cheers,
Steve
