Noise coming from drivers side

Noticed a noise coming from the drivers side of my vehicle today when driving at low speeds. The best way to describe it is that it almost sounds like a chef is rubbing two knives together. Weird analogy I know but its the best description I have. Has anyone ever heard a sound similar to this? Doesn't seem like anything too threatening.

Re: Noise coming from drivers side

I've experienced a similar noise twice in the past couple years. In both cases, the front wheel nuts were loose, causing slight front wheel wobble and a noticeable vibration at highway speeds. I had my vehicle in for it's yearly mechanical inspection each time, and I don't know if they forgot to torque them or what. In one instance one of the five wheel nuts had fallen off.

brake pads are worn, or backing plate rubbing

Can't be the pads. I just bought some Pro Stops from Pep Boys. Will never again tho. They squeak and if you go to AutoZone the Duralasts have a lifetime warranty

Didn't think about that. Just replaced all the rotors, pads and even the parking break shoes a couple months ago. Will look into this. Thanks.

I just re-read your original post, and that is an accurate description of the noise, LOL!
With all five nuts not properly torqued, for me, the rotor was "free floating" and was scraping occasionally on the backing plate, only noticeable at speeds less than 20 mph.

Thanks. Will get them re torqued asap
