Jeep Service Manual
 
On 20 March I ordered the 81-370-12064-CD 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Service Information CD (English). The total was $164.90 including ~$30 "S&H".

On receipt it turned out that:
1) It was only usable with specific versions of Windows and Internet Explorer. (not Windows 8 or my desktop Windows 7. Firefox or Mac or Android or iOS, fagedaboudit). Even with later versions of IE over 2700 .svg files do not display - these seem to be mostly wiring diagrams - I had to stand up an unpatched Windows XP machine to see everything.

2) I have been asking monthly when a fix would be available. The latest was sent on Aug 16. On the 19th I received this: "will...contact you with a resolution within 2 business days."

3) Nada

If it wasn't that it does contain information about my heep that I need, particularly specific identification of trouble codes, unavailable elsewhere it would have been returned.

Just be forwarned that it does contain vital information (my copy even includes the 3.0 TD, but to experience it fully you need an obsolete computer.

Suggestion:
Oracle VirtualBox and then run WinXP inside a Virtual Machine and install IrfanView + Plugins to view the SVG files.

My main tower is now a Core-i5 Quad Core with 16GB of RAM, I can run at least 2 (haven't tried three) dual-core VMs all at one time. Right now I have 4 Virtual Machines 'built', 1 WinXP and three different Linux machines.

I can provide even more thoughts/ideas/suggestions.
I've been working in IT for over 15 years including Unix/Linux, Windows, and Mac OS9 (haven't played with OSX at all).
Some friends used to joke that I had more computing power in my basement than some small businesses. I've pared down my hardware inventory since then...

2nd Edit:
Just for grins, I fired up all 4 VMs (all dual-core). Memory usage is up to 8GB and the CPU usage is running around 12-50% across all 4 CPUs. Interesting.
