Suspension/steering problem

I was wondering if someone could make a qualified guess as to what could be wrong with my Jeep. I had my front struts replaced about a year ago, but even after replacing the struts, I am still experiencing some lateral movement when driving over smaller bumps or holes in the road. The vehicle will feel as if the steering becomes loose, allowing the vehicle to wander from side to side. I would think this is not normal, considering this is supposed to be a vehicle worthy of some offroading. Any suggestions?
Thank you

Possibly the infamously horrible ball joints? I don't ever touch my ball joints when I pull the wheels because I know I'll want to replace those PoS's...

Hey Brent,

I just returned from the shop and the mechanic found my front suspension and steering parts were in great condition, but the sliders have some wear on them. After some lube, it works better. I guess I will be looking to replace the sliders sometime in the Spring. Does anyone have any recommendations that I should consider when I go shopping for these parts? Thanks!

If you're talking the caliper slide pins, you can get a set of each (per side) for around $7/each on RockAuto. Since each caliper has 2 pins, you'll need 2 sets.

Also, if you want to replace the rubber boots (only if they're in bad condition), those are about $4ish on RockAuto per set.

IMHO, just about every caliper slide pin is the same in quality/craftsmanship. RockAuto seems to sell Carlsons, Raybestos, Wagner, ACDelco, and Dorman for around the same price, so pick a brand, any brand.

I haven't checked Amazon yet, but they usually have great prices too!

avoid Rock auto like the plague, you have a better than 50% chance off getting the WRONG parts, there customer service is at best a oxymoron.

I've never had an issue with their parts, but I haven't had to use their CS either...Caveat Emptor I suppose.

I am still not for sure what the mechanic meant by slides, but he apparently cleaned them up with a wire brush and gave them some lube. I am not intricately familiar with how the suspension/steering operates on this vehicle, or what type of suspension/steering parts are involved. Considering it is a Jeep, I am sure Chrysler installed a Turbo Encabulator somewhere and would have insisted that I replace it immediately. Turbo Encabulator - YouTube In any case, the mechanic said steering and suspension all checked out, which is all that matters to me. And I have had no issues with the symptoms since. I trust this mechanic because he has never insisted on replacing anything that really did not need to be replaced. He is a rare breed these days and the shop is very old fashioned and basic, but they do their job and they do it cheaper than anyone else in town. Does anyone know where to find a legible diagram for the 2007 Jeep GC suspension/steering?
