Front License Plate Holder

I picked up a 2014 Deep Cherry Red Overland last week and it already had the front license bracket installed. I was thinking of having the bracket painted to match the the color of the bumper. What do you guys think, how would it look? Can I get a can of touch up paint that matchs, or take it to a body shop and try and have them match it?

Once the plate is in you will only have a thin black trim showing. It should look fine against the red. Now, if you are going to paint the plate to match ...

I live in Pa. and we don't require a front plate. I would rather of just not had it installed at all, I think it looks much cleaner that way. The dealer used all four bolts to mount it so taking it off now is not an option unless I want to see four holes in my bumper.

this is entirely upto personal preference~~ but is definitely in the highly picky area~~~ lol!! gl!

Why in the world did the dealer do that? I needed one for a beach permit and had trouble getting one.

In any event, this might work.

If I had the option I'd take it off even if you have 4 holes.

Couple things you could do.

Drill the holes out and plug them. Some folks get the plugs painted.

This is easier than getting the whole plate bracket painted and will look nicer.

Bring to body shop and have them fill/paint the holes. Again not much more work than painting bracket. Except colors might need to be blended.

I bet the dealer got the Jeep from a dealer in another state that requires a front plate and those PDI folks love to drill holes on a new vehicle's front bumper just so that will make their day. You know, they don't have much else to look forward to. :D

You know, I hate texas for requiring a front plate, I used a dremmel to as neatly as possible put 4 holes in my bumper to install the front plate bracket... I cringed the entire time.....Brand new 50k dollar SUV, drilling holes in the damn thing.....for a license plate..

It is what it is I suppose, beats the possible ticket but still I originally tried 3m Tape, I just couldn't get it to set right with the 3M tape and was afraid the plate would fall off driving and then I'd be missing a plate.....

Damn plate laws are stupid..

I always had front plates until I moved to Delaware. I was happy to drill the holes in my bumber to mount my front plate this spring. It even features a Jeep. :)

Well, ya see, sometimes in Texas, those good ole boys, like to drive around bass-ackwards. And the cops like to see their license plates.

[lived there 8 years in Plano, wish I could go back.... so don't take offense]

It is too bad a uniform plate standard would probably cause Northern Colorado to secede from the pretty part of the state.

Always needed a front plate here in Ontario Canada- on my 07 Overland the bracket was mounted crooked and I had to remove it and shift it around as best I could to level it. My '11 Limited is at least level- no bracket- just two top holes in the fascia for the plate. My fathers '12 Limited has a largish bracket that the plate mounts too....

What I'd like to see is auto manufacturers in general stop making such cheap-a$$ front plate mounting points...period. Something metal for increased strength, and have it attach by bolts to the inner steel bumper (and have it come out just a tad so it doesn't touch the bumper cover) so if your State doesn't require a front plate, one could just unbolt it. At least make it an option for God's sake...I don't care if I have to pay a little more for it...stop being so cheap!

Really Chrysler? All that design work and the best you can come up with is a cheap screw-on plastic frame?
