2012 SRT8 Grinding/Popping Sensation
My 2012 has developed a grinding/popping sensation, most noticeable when torque is applied. It almost seems to "slip". It is worse on inclines and at low RPM. It seems to be coming from the front left, and I feel it below my feet.

Had it checked out at the dealership. Problem easily replicated on the ground, but not on the rack, so it is likely related to load. TSB's reviewed, updates flashed => no change. The tech thought it might be an engine mount or associated with the transfer case.

The tech seemed to be very knowledgable, and I was impressed with the dealership (first visit). The tech wants to keep the truck for a few days and troubleshoot with Detroit. Anyone have a similar problem? Any ideas?

Well, it was worth a shot... I'm dropping it off next week for repair.

I'll post an update once we get this figured out, in case anyone else runs into the same issue.

Resolution - 2012 SRT8 Grinding/Popping Sensation
It ended up being a universal joint. They replaced the front transfer case. The vehicle feels a little different, but the primary problem is resolved.

I was very impressed with the Jeep dealership in Tuscaloosa, AL (Locklear). This is the first time that I've done business with them, and they went out of their way to make sure I was satisfied (loaner car, exceptional communication, etc.).

Interestingly, the service manager noted that another JC with AWD came in a couple of days after mine with the same problem. Because of their experience with my rig, they were able to fix the other vehicle quickly.

If a mod would be so kind, pls transfer this thread to the troubleshooting thread.... Tks!
