New Sponsor to help with car care needs!

About Detailed Image
I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and my business to the JeepGarage community. My name is Greg, co-owner and co-founder of Detailed Image, a new automotive car care sponsor on JeepGarage. We sponsor various automotive and detailing forums and our primary objective is to help educate car enthusiasts on how to properly care for your vehicle(s) and select the right combination of products to meet your specific goals. At Detailed Image, we offer a wide variety of high quality products that we hand selected to meet and exceed the needs of detailing enthusiasts. With each order we also take great pride in our outstanding customer service to help you get the products quickly and safely. If you need help before, during or after any purchase we'll be here for you. We welcome Private Messages and e-mails so we can help you with detailing tips, proper techniques, product selection, and more.

What to expect from us on the forum?
I'm excited to interact with as many of you as possible. I generally check the forum at least once a day so if you have any questions for me you should hear back in one business day or less. My experience as a professional detailer allows me to provide input on how to get the most out of your detail work and helping solve specific detailing problems you may have. I'll be answering questions you post on the forum, and when relevant, I'll link to a product that I think could help get you the results you are looking for. I know there is a lot of great information already on here, my goal is to help keep this detailing resource growing.

Yes I agree.....I have been needing to do a paint correction since I bought the jeep a few months back.

So far I have only done a claybar and a couple of waxes. Helped smooth her out but I want to say goodbye to the swirls.

Anyhow, welcome aboard. :)

Glad to hear you already have a clay bar and wax. The next step would be to polish the surface. I generally recommend a two step polishing process with a medium and light polish. My favorite combination is the Menzerna PO83 (medium polish) and the Menzerna PO106FA (light polish). If you want a more affordable option try the Menzerna Intensive Polish (medium polish) and the Menzerna Final Polish II (light polish). These polishes can be applied by hand but certainly a buffer will help provide significantly better results. The new Porter Cable 7424XP and the Flex XC 3401 VRG are two really excellent options. They are very safe and easy to use even for first time detailers. If you would like more information about these buffers or anything related to detailing please let me know.

I just bought a new Carbon Fiber hood that has a gel coat finish.

What do I use to make it look like clear coat?

And how do I keep it that way?

Thanks,
Rob

Re: New Sponsor to help with car care needs!

Both surfaces should be optically clear so I guess I'm not exactly sure how to make them look like each other. The other/older clear coated pieces may have some oxidation and swirls that every vehicle has that may make those pieces look older and more dull. Generally if you polish those older panels they will look more like new and more similar to your new carbon fiber pieces. I would suggest finding a good medium and light cutting polish to use on those other pieces. Here are two great combos:

My favorites
Menzerna PO83 followed by Menzerna PO106FA

Great Value
Poorboy's World SSR 2.5 and SSR 1

Let me know if you have any other questions.
