Going to Canada

Didn't know where to post this but here goes.

I have to go and live in Canada for a time but my 2014 Summit is financed. The bank will let me take it for 60 days but I'm unsure if that is total time per year or consecutive days. Anyone here taken their vehicle to Canada?
What paperwork did you need to cross the border?
Where any mods needed to meet Canadian regulations?

Re: Going to Canada

I was in Canada for a couple of weeks this summer. The only thing I needed was to get a card from my auto insurance company stating I had the required auto insurance. Call your insurance agent and they will take care of it for you. Don't know about a longer stay. Of course you need a passport. More info here:

I assume that you know that you will need a work permit if you plan to work during this period or a student visa?

No idea about how the bank views it. However, you may have to temporarily import your car. If it has an outstanding lien you'll need a letter from your bank allowing the temporary import or you will need to pay it off. Exporting a Motor Vehicle - CBP.gov

See here for info on importing your car: Should I import my car?

You need to send a copy of the vehicle title and, if it has a lien, a letter from the bank saying that you can temporarily import it to Canada Customs 72 hours before you plan on entering Canada.

As always, take any advice with a grain of salt and do your own research. :D
