This is my first tech post, my name is Al. My 06 Liberty is getting a growling sound in the front wheels....on acceleration and slowing (but it's not feeling like coming from the brakes. A few friends have told me itmay be the front wheel hub bearings. I am pretty busy using my jeep now and really don't want to down it. What exactly am I talking about as far as it breaking down and/or leaving it go a bit how much more damage can be caused in cost. I don't know anything about 4 wheel drive and a little about front wheel drive. Since i'm running in 2 wheel drive now and hearing this I assume it's not a drive issue. (maybe it is, that's why i'm here)
I've been taking it to the dealership but my local one is very dis-functional as far as scheduling/getting repairs done on time and keeping me informed on costs.....so i'm gonna do it myself.
What is the best place to get tech info, I do motorcycle work and download alot of service manuals online. Are those available? I like to work from a computer service manual because I have one in my shop working on bikes.....it's what you're used to and if it works?????
Maybe You Tube for a review of what the heck the hub bearing is?
Any help on getting set upto do my own work and having the info at hand would be appreciated.
