Found cause of Glove Box rattle in 2014

I've been having a small rattle near the glove box.

Happens at numerous speeds.

If I open the glove it stops. Empty it and close it, still rattles.

I believe it's caused from the latches.

There are two latches, one on each side.

If one grabs a little tighter than the other one latch has no tension and rattles.

To confirm I closed the glove with a piece of Kleenex over the latch that has no tension and the rattle stopped.

I could repeat the rattle by knocking on the glove box.

My wife had a good idea to just add a piece of tape to the face of the latch. Not bad for a girl (I always tell her that, she is so cute when she gets mad).

It was not the latch. But I found it and fixed it.

See if you can figure it out from the photo.

Those curled up stickers will do it everytime.

So what was it. Mine has the exact same problem. Was it really the stickers?

I had this same problem, exactly as you described it. I thought it was the latches because the noise would stop if I opened the glove box. Turns out it was the stickers! I had the car at the dealer twice to figure it out and they never could. I can't tell you how annoying the noise was so I'm very grateful for this post.

Stickers?! I still can't believe that was it.

I'm going to have to look at this tonight. Noticed it on mine this morning and now it's the only thing I hear.

My 2013 JGC Ltd. had the same problem. Drove me out of my mind. I must have slammed that glove box door with my FIST 100 times while driving.THANKS MSWLOGO YOU GOT ME GOING. I saw your post on the stickers so I got into it 3 nights ago. And sure enough, there was the 3 stickers looking exactly as yours did. I was so d_ _ _ happy and pulled them off. Put it all back together and drove it. The small squeeky rattle was gone, but another louder one was still there. If I tapped on the glove box door it would still rattle. Hmmmm......took it all apart again and tapped on the back panel that is behind the glove compartment and THERE was the noise as loud as ever. NOW WHAT ??? Got a flash light and I could hear it was coming from the dampener area that gets hooked up to the glove box door. I managed to get my fingers up and in there, and popped it out. As I held it in my hand I shook it and low and behold that was the sound ! That dampener is so cheaply made, and once it is fastened onto the dash board it magnifies its noise. Put it all back together, said a prayer, lol, and backed it out of the garage to go for a ride. ITS GONE !!! Dead quiet from the entire area. Got up the next morn and went for a ride before every thing warmed up and still totally gone. No rattle. The only thing is the glove box door falls open till the stops stop it. I never had a dampener in any of my other SUV's so believe me its now the same way and I won't miss it. I'LL be the first to admit I love driving my Jeep. Had it for 12 months now, and for six of those 12 months I drove it with such dissapointment and unhappiness. Those are not good odds. Between the Michelin Latitude tires vibrating, the pano roof noise, and the glove box rattle, I wonder whats next. Sure hope someone from Chrysler reads this stuff. As mentioned by other members, when you spend between $40 and $55 thousand dollars and more, this is not acceptable.

I also noticed that that glove box door dampener is cheaply made and will rattle. I wound up stuffing a piece of foam between the dampener and the plastic panel that it gets mounted to. Worked on my previous 2012 Overland and on my current 2014 Summit. The rattle is there because there isn't enough tension kept on the cord which dampens the doors opening. When the glove box door is closed, the dampener rattles. If you hold the glove box door open even just an inch, the rattle is gone. Chrysler should employ me to find rattles in their vehicles. ;)
