Headlight ?

What seems to be the best/brightest 9006 low beam bulbs that you guys are using ? I always feel like I need more light when the smartbeam is on low. I have seen the Sylvania Silver Stars at the stores by me ,But I hear there is better, I don't want the silly blue color ,

Before I got HID's, I had the Silverstar Ultra's and they were pretty good, a little bit brighter/whiter than the regular Silverstar's.

Re: Headlight ?

I had trouble (eye years/mileage) with the Silverstar whiter/blueish light especially in on rainy nights.

Found the lighting of the Wagner TruViews to be excellent for my needs. Seems the light is somewhere right between the yellowish of the standard halogens but not the bright white/blueish of the silverstars. I run these in both high/low in the Vette, WJ and WK. Usually pick them up at Car Quest, RockAuto has great pricing on them in pairs.

robpp,

I picked up a set of those a few years back and never installed them in my WJ. Was concerned about that "bulbous" end on them melting that center cap in the headlight housing. I'd like to put them in the 05 and check them out. Any issues with that center cap melting, deforming?

What exactly would you say is the biggest, noticeable difference between the HIR's and regular halogens?

thanks

Re: Headlight ?

my headlights are painted inside. and yes, the low beam 'cover' has the paint burned off...........i had them in another set of lights for a year without it affecting the chrome.

those are 9005 bulbs...youll have to alter them. I would guess they make 9006 too though

Re: Headlight ?

if you look at the COMPLETE add scott they do need to be modified by cutting off a tab.

he usually sells both 9006 and 9005 I have them both. all all 4 if you will. they qare like 9011 9012 or 9010 and 9011 something like that.

but yes about 30 seconds with the dremel to get them to fit.,

$19.95 ea is not bad until you see he also charges $15.00 ea for shipping. So I found some 9012 HIR2's for $24.71 that should not need to be modified. Plug and play.
Shipping to me UPS Ground was quoted $8.29 for the pair. If someone gets these, post back your results please.

x2 on posting results. I've been thinking about getting a set of HIRs for my highs, but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
