Broken antenna 2013 GC

OK backing into garage and didn't have the door up enough. Snapped off antenna right where it screws into base.
Looking for help to get this fixed. Any help would be helpful.

Re: Broken antenna 2013 GC

Put a pair of vise grips in the center and turn it counterclockwise - the screw in tip should come right out. A new antenna should just screw-in by hand. Bummer.

Soounds like a good opportunity to get a shark fin through VG.

A Left handed drill bit would work.

Thanks for the info. Gonna try and get it out first.
Not sure about the shark fin by VG maybe just a stubby antenna.
I did a search and someone else mentioned left hand drill bit.
Is that something I can get at Home Depot?

Google left handed drill bits. I bought a set at an industrial supply house years ago.
Center punch the broken piece and drill in reverse, use a smaller bit so you don't
damage the threads and it should spin out. don't drill too fast or too deep.

Two ways to do this:

1. If there is anything left to grab onto, then use visegrips and lock them on the piece left and unscrew it.

2. Using a small tool called an ez-out (spiral fluted extractor) and drill bit, drill the appropriate sized hole using a standard drill bit into the center of the broken piece that is left. Then insert the ez-out and turn counter-clockwise. Since the ez-out is reverse threaded, it will lock in the drilled hole and the piece that is left will also screw out.

Get yourself the aluminum Stubby antenna.
The reception is excellent ,the look is sleek and doesn't mess up the look of the jeep like the gimmicky Shark Fin antenna!
Cheers

Re: Broken antenna 2013 GC

I have the same exact problem. I have a replacement antenna now but I need to remove what was left over by the original antenna. Can you tell me exactly what you used to take it out? Can you give me a step by step if possible?
