Well im kind of really pissed off... putting in the switch was simple, took all of 5 min. Only to discover that my wipers still dont work! The spray works both front and rear, but none of the blades move. Now what? I replaced the wiper motor and the linkage its hooked up to, and now my switch, both front and rear wipers dont work...

Edit: I swapped the wiper relays with 2 others to see if it was the relays and still a no go and I checked the fuses under the dash by the driver door...

I don't know what Jeep you have, but are there additional fuses under the hood?

Re: wipers dont work help

Check for 12V at pin 87 of the wiper on/off relay in the PDC (under the hood). Ignition switch should be in RUN or ACC. When no 12V available, the 20 A circuit breaker #1 on the junction block is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Edit: just seeing now that the rear wiper motor doesn´t get power via the circuit breaker #1. A common item for both is the BCM. Check fuses 7, 22 and 28 on the junction block, they are all feeding the BCM.

I had my neighbor come over and poke around and hes a mechanic for 20+ years and he couldnt figure it out. So ive decided screw it, there is a shop nearby that does free diagnostics, im going to just take it there tomorrow and let them figure It out. Then once they tell me whats wrong ill go home and fix it myself.

So turns out its the BCM, is this a project I.can do myself?

Re: wipers dont work help

Possible, yes. Depends on how handy you are:D.
The BCM is back to back mounted to the junction block, the fuse and relay panel under the steering wheel.

Im pretty handy, just not informed. Ive gone to never working on cars to doing a radiator swap twice in the WJ. As long as I kniw what im looking for I can figure it out.. looks like ill be doing some reading tonight

Re: wipers dont work help

Where all the BCM fuses checked (the ones i had mentioned before)?
Are only the wipers not working, or also other BCM functions?

trxgedy 09-27-2013 12:05 AM

The fuses were all checked, I took it to a shop an they double checked everything for me and he said it was the BCM, as of now I think the wipers are the only thing not working. What else does the BCM control?

Re: wipers dont work help

The BCM controls a lot of things like interior lights, chime, alarm, several items which are programmable via the EVIC, radio steering switch control, door position monitoring, key in ignition switch monitoring, ambient temperature indication, seatbelt fastened monitoring and several more.

My cruise control buttons on my steering wheel only work half the time. Thats really the only problem I have besides wipers
