Chrysler Suspending Cherokee KL Production

Did you guys hear about this? Chrysler is suspending production of the JGC at the Toledo plant to match current demand.

I thought the word on the street was that the 2014 was selling like hotcakes. How does this affect new orders if I wanted to order say next week?

Wouldn't Toledo be the Cherokee and not Grand Cherokee? I know the article says GC but I think it's probably an error.

GC is only produced at Jefferson North as far as I'm aware.

Umm...so I'm wondering if the model is wrong, or if the location in the article was wrong....

Well there is no "Inventory" for the Cherokee yet so there is nothing to rebalance.

There sure is a lot of inventory of JGC out there. Quite a few on the road too.

Reuters says it is Toledo, it is the Cherokee not the Grand, and there are plenty of Cherokees built but not yet shipped to dealers. And 500 workers are getting laid off for two weeks while they suspend the second shift that they just hired on.

This is a story about the Cherokee not the Grand Cherokee. The Cherokee is supposed to start shipping to dealers next week, but Chrysler has already built around 10K of them and are running out of places to put them. So they are slowing production for a week or still until they can get those units shipped. The Grand Cherokee on the other hand is not showing any sign of slow down they can't keep up with the demand and the Grand Cherokee is built in Detroit not Toledo.

Once again a newspaper prints, without checking facts.

Then the internet can distribute the misinformation.

They used to say a little information can be dangerous. Today, the same can be said for too much information.

Who was it that said, "Don't believe anything you read, and only half of what you see"?

Yeah really. I think Lou Reed might've said "none of what you hear and half of what you see". Words to live by in today's internet news society.

I guess people really do hate the "Buck Rogers" front end on the new Cherokee. What the hell was Chrysler (Fiat) thinking...

Its interesting, in a lot of the reviews I've read they have said it looks much better in person and it starts to grow on you. As someone else mentioned that without these being at dealers yet and physically going to owners or being available to drive off the lot they are just adding more and more, eventually you need something going out the door to bring something else in...

I have to admit, while I still dont think it looks "good" I am starting to like it better. I am looking forward to checking one out next time I am at the dealer.
