Finally bought one

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum and this is my first post :).

I've been researching SUVs for the last little while trying to decide what to get. I am currently driving a 2004 Infiniti G35 coupe, but its terrible in the snow (winter is coming) and its useless for my job (project manager for a custom cabinetry company). I needed something with 4WD and cargo space as I sometimes have to do some running around for the shop.

I decided to pull the trigger on a 2014 Laredo E. I got the All Weather Group (selec-terrain, quadra-trac II, hill descent control, heated seats and steering wheel, remote start, slush mats, cargo area liner), Trailer Tow Group IV, and the 8.4A Uconnect radio. I was considering getting the dealer to activate the NAV, any opinions?? I pick the vehicle up sometime next week, probably toward the end of the week. The colour is Granite Crystal Metallic and the interior is black cloth (I hate leather, maybe I'm crazy, whatever) with the black wood trim.

I have never purchased a brand new vehicle before, so I don't exactly know what to look for before signing the paperwork. Is there anything specific that I should be looking for on the 2014? From reading the forums I've seen a post about interior trim gaps, and also tailgate alignment. Any other big ones to look for? I bought the vehicle in Toronto, Ontario.

Thanks in advance for any help. I cant wait to get in and take it for a ride.

Congrats and welcome to the site. I've got a 2014 Laredo E also. Silver Billet with black cloth.
Just so you know...you don't have to get the oil changed till the Oil Change Indicator System tells you to.

;)

Congrats, nice color and options choices. It sounds like you are on the right path as to what to look for.

Congrats from Calgary!!!:thumbsup: Here is the link to the Delivery Checklist I did for my 2014 Overland delivery at the end of August. If you have the time, it would be well worth it to read throughout that entire thread to gain some great insight. Cheers, and have fun! (I sure am) - Video_Pilot

I forgot to mention, the GC they're bringing in has the remote cd player option. I didn't want it originally so they aren't charging me for it.

I didn't know about the oil change indicator system. I'll look into it. Thanks for the heads up. I'm really used to doing oil changes every 5000km, full synthetic, just because I feel bad waiting longer... lol

As far as my deal goes, I am pretty satisfied with the pricing I received. I got them to do the vehicle with my selected options for $39,000 (incl. freight, pdi) + tax + licensing. No extra admin fees. If I price out the exact same model on the jeep.ca website it works out to $45,125.00 (incl freight, pdi) + tax + licensing. What do you guys think?

Fincancing over 5 yrs, 3.99%. Leasing isn't an option for me as I usually exceed 35,000 km per year (closer to 40,000). Standard leases around here are 20,00km/year and can be upgraded to 30,000 km/yr. Interest rate at my bank is higher.

Thanks for the quick responses so far, and the link to the delivery checklist. I'll check it out for sure.

Don't buy the Extended Warranty from the Dealer. 99.99% will over price it. You can get official Mopar Warranty Online (common one is Zeigler). Check the prices before you deal with the "Finance" guy. Search for threads on the topic.

A lot of folks are getting the warranty because of all the tech in it.

I don't know if the equation changes if you are in Canada.

You'll love it. And don't get paranoid by reading too many of the posts here... it's a quality product.

Price seems high. You should be able to get 5.5% below invoice. Also, Jeep is offering 1.9% financing for 60 months.

If I look at the pricing shown in the sticky by Milous (Canadian pricing, Laredo E 4x4), MSRP of my vehicle and options is 44,840. The invoice price is 41,622. 5.5% off the invoice price is $39,332.79. I paid just over $39,000 (can't remember the exact amount). All of those prices are + tax and licensing. You say its high, and I should be able to get 5.5% off, but it looks like I did get 5.5% off . Maybe my math is wrong?

I just called another dealership and they dont know anything about a 1.9% financing offer. They said 3.9% is correct for 60 months.

I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Should I be digging deeper into this, or is the pricing and finance rate you mentioned for a different region?

Take the comment about it being high with a grain of salt and look at the poster's location information. Practically everyone in the US will find this price to be high. What they don't realize is that Jeeps in Canada are being priced $10K to $15K above US prices.

I am originally from Canada and have relatives in New Brunswick. I was home this summer and my brother-in-law was admiring my 2014 Limited. He was thinking about getting one but found out that it was too expensive.

In the US, invoice for my options is just under $40K, in New Brunswick its around $53K. He even looked at buying one down here and taking it back to Canada. Unfortunately, Chrysler will not honor the warranty for a car bought in the US and driven back to Canada.
