Shudder question on 2014's

Guys, I'm looking at 2014 Hemi Overland. Did search and looks like Pentastar's have some shifting issues, but i could not see anything about 14' Hemi's. Is this issue fixed now with the new ZF transmission?
Thanks!

Re: Shudder question on 2014's

I have heard of no shudder problems on the 2014. I know on the 2011 models there was a lot of talk of shudder problems, but it was hard to tell how wide spread it was because after a while it seemed like that word was used to describe almost every problem that came up.

You have 2 separate tranny issues crossed up. Your thread title says "shudder" hence the reply you got. That is/was a shudder/fishbite issue for '11-'13 I believe and the supposed long awaited TSB to fix that just came out so that's what you are hearing a lot of chat about. THEN the other issue is the 845RE ZF (mechanicals altered by Chrysler) tranny only in the V6 models has had many (on this forum but prolly small overall) reports of slamming, harsh shifting, banging and it has several TSB's out that seem to improve or remove the issues but then some report they end up returning....whatever...the V8 and Diesel's get the 8HP70 ZF (untouched mechanicals) and except for a small issue that one TSB seems to fix and some Diesel owners making some rankor over a few issues us V8 owners aren't reporting. Net net you are safe either way. Make your decision elsewhere like motor, trim level, etc... and have fun with it.

Dsi...I thought you bought a 14 last year or did you not go through with it? If your interested in the V6, just make sure to take it for a test drive and feel out the transmission. The V8 hasn't had so many TSB (I believe the V6 has had 4 now) so you should be good either way now. With some people, it has been hit/miss on how many have had transmission problems. Just think of how many people DON'T post that their not having tranny problems compared to those that are. The only problem I have with my tranny is that it sits in 1st gear a little long when cold but other than that it is good. Do I add any benefit to the complaints people have about really having problems, nope so I don't post it.

Eitherway, just test drive the one you are looking to buy and make your decision.

It's actually for '12-'13 V8 only but this is the official 'fishbite" TSB.

There are like 5 or 6 out there for various V6 tranny (845RE) improvements that probably crossover into the fishbite/shudder described problems but I have the V8/8HP70 tranny so I haven't drilled into them.

EDIT:

And here's the latest one of the 5 or 6 I referred to for the V6/845RE tranny:

I have an 06/13 build 2014 pentastar. The shifting is so smooth and quiet it's hard to even tell it's shifting at times. Absolutely zero issues from day one. 14k+ miles (all software updated).
