NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

hey guys, I just got my new taillights in today, I took my old ones out, and BIG PROBLEM.........the plug is WAY different than the one on my jeep.......I was wondering......there is like a bracket thing on the old lights that go over the holes for the bulbs...........do I take that off the old ones and put it on the new ones? Someone please help

Re: NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

I'm guessing you got the 07 Tailights. There have been a lot of talking about 05-06 Tailights not fitting 2007-2010 Tailights because of different plugs.

Take a picture of them so we can verify and tell you what you could do. You can contact one of our vendors LipChitzWrath and he could help you out.

lets see pics snewt.

your jeep should have an 8 pin plug with 5 pins/ 5 wires used.

what kind of tail l ights did you buy?

the 07 and up have 2 plugs....... a 3 pin/wire and a 2 pin wire........

Re: NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

Are they aftermarket LED lights or something? If so, you should be able to wire them in, but it will require using wire taps or cutting the wires, but it can be done...

Re: NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

all the aftermarket LED lights we know of are direct plug and play for the 05-06 WK. Pull the oem socket covers off, put them on the new LED lights and then plug the lights in.....

Re: NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

Tell me more Scott, there is a bracket like thing that goes over the bulb holes on the stock lights.....there isn't one on the new ones and there isn't anyway to snap the bulbs in place on the new ones.....does that bracket thing come off of the stock lights? And is there anything on that that I can plug the led plug in because the only plug that came with the lights is a completely different plug that my jeep has

Re: NEED HELP! Taillight installation!

yes...pull those brackets off and put them on the new led lights. Then just push the plug on. All aftermarket led lights we have seen are direct plkug and play for the n05-06 WK. You have an 06. Are the plusgs diffeent shape or just have a different number of wires?
