Addco Sway Bars

Okay guys, after searching and researching on here, I think I've decided to go with the Addco front/rear sway bars. For my 05 WK, it seems that I need to buy stock WK length end links for both the front and the rear and replace the bushings as well. I previously updated the bushing bracket on the front and replaced the bushings as well.

So this has brought up some interesting questions:
1) Why are Addco bars so expensive now? I see countless threads about how you could buy the set of the bars for $270 like last year. Now they're well into the $300's range.
I can find the rear on Amazon for about $140 shipped, but the front can't be found for much less than $180ish on it's own. I was hoping to budget $400 for the total parts cost and do a DIY install.

2) Anyone have links to the part numbers I'll need for my end-links/bushings/brackets from J4J?

Don't do it (buy Addco)! You may not like the fit and function. I just installed front and rear Addco bars on my 07 WK. Process was straightforward, but I've got issues. Both bars squeak terribly at the frame mounting bushings. I had to remove, drill/tap, install grease fittings, and reinstall with marine-grade grease to stop the noise. You shouldn't have to do that with a properly designed aftermarket part! It should come ready to install. I wrote a letter to Addco describing my displeasure with their products- heard nothing back yet. Also, the front bar isn't formed correctly. The 'ears' at the end are not bent at the right angle forcing the end links to lean inward, squishing the end link bushing. This unusual angle and force will undoubtedly wear out the end links prematurely.

I suggest you go with SRT8 factory bars for best fit and function.

On a good note, I bought from NeverEnoughAuto on ebay and recevied a 5% discount plus free shipping. Front bar was $158, Rear bar was $140. Oh, and the handling is unbelievable in the corners! I do like that. Just not sure how these will be long term with the front end link issue and potential to squeak without greasing the bushings.

Hmm from what I understand, not only are the Addco's basically cheaper than the OEM SRT8 bars, but they create a stiffer ride and really stop unnecessary body roll...if I have any fitment issues with the front, I'll be calling them, that's for sure.

That being said, I'm considering doing JUST the rear and calling it a day.

I run the Addcos front and rear on my 09. I had just the rear on first and it made a good improvment over stock however having both is awesome. I did/do not have any of the previous mentioned issues with mine. I noticed Justforjeeps has the STR8 front bar on sale for 170.00..Rear for 95.00. Just a thought. I bought my Addco's from Kolak....might check with him..PM me if you need his contact info.

regards,

Mike

So you have had no issues with frame bushings squeaking? Did you grease them before installation perhaps? And the front bar ends are perfectly aligned so that the end links are not angled inward at the top? When did you buy your Addco's?

I just put the front/rear srt8 swaybars on my 09 4.7. I thought about addco's but went with srts for fit issues. I had the biggest addco on the rear of my 99 4.7 and it had alot of issues but Im sure the addco are better now. Even the smallest addco rear swaybar 7/8 in still a bit bigger the the srt 8 swaybar and i was real close to buying that one. I bought mine at Justforjeeps but just had to buy the bushings and not the brackets. It really inproved handling.

No squeaking issues...yet. I did use some moly or graphite grease on install. I have had them on there about 18 months now. The alignment was good...just like stock.

I put the addco on my rear (I think it was rear only) 2 years ago. Mechanic used stock bushings (so I have the aftermarket ones if you want them) and no noise, ever. Very happy overall.
