First pic here shows the simple tools you need. The blue tools are soft plastic trim removal tools. they can be found at most auto parts stores. They are invaluable tools for any make or model. You can see these two tools taper to a very fine point. The green painters tape is from Frog...but any painters tape will do.

This next pic shows the painters tape applied all around the edges of the chrome trim piece. This will protect the paint....so do several layers.
Attachment 29813
This pic shows where to start to remove the rings. Start on the side closer to the acc module. It is the thickest side of the rings.
Attachment 29814
Next...go to the top of the rings
Attachment 29816
Next pry the molding out on the shortest side and pull it away
Attachment 29817
This pic shows the tape and molding removed
Attachment 29818
Next...start in the outside corner and push in along top and bottom and then side closest to the acc module.

ALL done!!!!

Re: How to: REMOVE lower chrome rings(triangular)

I have two(2) sets of these rings if anyone wants a set! One set is off my 14 with 3000 miles and the other set is brand new..still in packaging. I need $80 shipped for each set...which is a steal! These are over $100 from dealers.

I might want a set. I want to see what a white set would look like on mine.

yeah...I have a set of new grille rings. I was thinking of having them all done in redline. I put red lower rings on my 13 and it looked good. Its a different look.

Has anyone scooped those yet?
I think I remember you mentioning a vendor on here who does your paint work, Scott; if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take for you to get everything back?

I'm interested in blacking out the lowers and the upper grill rings.

Can you take out the upper grill rings the same way?

Re: How to: REMOVE lower chrome rings(triangular)

yes...be sure to use painters tape around each rings...start on the left top side and work your way around the top...down each side and then pull up to pull the ring away from the grille
