Powered Hatch didn't want to come down

I left my hatch up accidently in the garage for a few hours.

I went to put it down with the button in the rear and it just did a quick double beep and it said no, I can't go down.

Then I went and got the Key. Key said Beep Beep, no.

Tried the Overhead console. Beep Beep no.

Started it up. Tried Overhead Console. Beep Beep no.

Finally I manually closed it. It automatically latched.

Then it worked normally.

What happened? Is this normal?

Holy crap, you had to manually close a door??? What is this world coming to??? The insanity and madness!!! (just kidding) My guess is one of the small computer glitches. If this is the biggest glitch you have, I wouldn't worry about it - hopefully will be fixed in a future software update.

Perhaps it is an intentional safety override of the auto close functions after a certain time elapse?

I'm not complaining I had to close it manually. I'm curious if it's like a safety shutdown or something.

And if it is a computer glitch, bet ya this is not the last of it.

And perhaps if I did trip some safety it might not have had anything to do with the long time I had it open.

To be honest I wish it didn't have the powered hatch.

Mine has given lip a number of times when trying to open the liftgate using the keyfob or the inside overhead switch. The liftgate sounds like it starts to open, but instead closes and thats it. Then it usually takes letting it sit for 10 minutes before it will usually then open up. Chrysler doesn't have a clue where to look for the problem. Pretty sad.

I also wish it didn't have the powered liftgate on the Summit. Give me back the flipper liftgate window and non powered liftgate and I'd be very happy. But people are just to lazy or short of height to open and close it manually.

According to the owner's manual ... yes.
