Just though I would throw out there that I couldn't be happier with it. At first, I never thought I would use it, but I don't think I go a week without using it. My boy has a 14 and he is actually really bothered by the fact that his doesn't come with it. I wonder what the motivation was to remove that simple yet totally worthwhile feature.
I use it all the time on my 2011 and on my new 2015 when it arrives it will be missed. This is a great feature and on a 5000+ Lbs SUV 50 pounds is not substantial. The statement "greatly improves" is marketing BS. This was a cost cutting measure pure and simple...
I use it so often to overfill my boot. Went camping over the Easter break and man I manage to get heaps in my using that flipper glass. Throw in before it falls back out!
Interesting we dont look to have a range rover/ xc90/ wagonner style rear hatch where the bottom portion folds down like a pickup and the remainder hatches up. Frankly I think that could have been a nice feature on the GC. Wonder if the new wagoneer will adopt that.
Agreed. I think that's the best of all worlds. However, I don't see it happening since they have all the hardware for the hatch from existing minivans.
After reading some other thread, I modified my remote to be able to activate the flipper glass remotely, but I rarely use it. Probably because my cover is usually in place to hide stuff I keep back there.
Having that feature is a gem for sure... I always us that thing.. I just wish it was like my 4 th generation 4 runner that had a button on the console that would allow you to open and close it.. Not to mention you could use your key for it too
