2014 JGC uconnect - navigation

G'Day

First post (from NSW Australia), so Im new to the whole posting thing.

Read a lot of posts prior to buying a jeep and got a lot of useful and interesting info. Great site.

Just picked up my 2014 JGC Limited (white). Love the car. Getting a bit tired of all the texts and messages "So you bought a Jeep!".

All was good, other than a few minor issues that were rectified by the dealer except one. Voice Command for the GPS.

Im unable to get the Nav system to navigate to an address via "voice command".

"go home" - works.

"repeat guidance" - works.

"cancel route" - works.

"view map" - works.

"NAVIGATE TO" (this is where an address/location is inputed via voice command) - DOES NOT WORK!

The response from the uconnect gps is ( in a lovely female voice) " SPEECH DESTINATION ENTRY IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH THE SELECTED COUNTRY" ???????

What does this mean? HELP!!! 3 DAYS OF FRUSTRATION!!!

As Far as Im aware it has the latest software 13.19.0 (found in the settings).

Can anyone help or had the same issues?

Cheers Pete (ptc777) .

Welcome to JG.
The US guys will not understand the "bought a Jeep" reference, lucky them.

Your problem is a known issue and has been discussed in this Australian thread
http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/2014-...lia-54650.html

It's a big thread, and there has not been a specific one regarding it.
However, it has not been fixed yet, it is a silly little problem, and a fix is under way.

The latest firmware is 13.39.51, although your dealer will not have it yet, it has been posted here and a few Aus members have installed it.
You can see some feedback here:
http://www.jeepgarage.org/f190/2014-...tml#post904804

Raise the case officially with your dealer to get a case number, even though it is a known issue, you should always do this.
Basically the nav doesn't seem to know what country it is in and gets confused.

Hi Pete - Welcome to JG

In conjunction with the thread that Snuke posted, you should also take a look at this one started by Steve (Barboots) in WA.

The issue is specificially mentioned and a video was provided to Willx, just so they knew exactly what the issue was.

Start at post #73

Forgot about that thread that went completely off topic, it really does need a new heading.

Cheers Guys,

Appreciate the response and the info regarding my issue.

I will raise it with the dealer because to me it seems to a warranty issue.

Before they act on it, Ill investigate the links you both mentioned and possibly deal with it on my own or at least be able to point them in the right direction. I did raise it with them initially but Im not sure they got it, as they said the GPS is functioning.

The US members should google Australian Jeep adverts and then understand the issues Ive been dealing with from my mates.

Once again, thanks for the feedback.

There is newer software available but it does not correct the voice issues for NAV. You need to complain to your dealer about this because Jeep Australia needs to complain about it for this to be fixed.

We have no idea why they did not enable voice for GPS

Are you saying Will that Jeep AU have not raised this issue with HO?

ETA: One would assume that anything advertised in their brochure but the reality being something different, would raise concerns with the ACCC.

I would hope that they are aware of it and are making it a priority.

Yeah something like "Not Happy With The Sh!t That Doesn't Work" Actually I was going to suggest "Sage Advice From the Guru", but I really was just finding my feet here :D

Personally, I'd love to see more new threads about specific topics. That 630 odd page one is out of control!

Ciao,
Steve

When I get a few minutes, SOMEDAY!, I am going to start a Sticky on the Radio tech... would it be helpful if I ran a separate discussion for the Export Models?

False or misleading claims | ACCC

You do need to threaten them, I have no idea why this was not turned on in this update.

Make sure you manually select the country destination in your first NAV destination but you are correct, I did not see it in the change logs.

As we do seem to suffer from different issues sometimes and have different firmware/software/solutions, an export thread would be ideal
