Jeep's resoponse to my shudder/fishbite problem

I had our jeep in (2012 JGC with the V8) for the fifth time yesterday for having the fishbite. This happens at low speeds usually up a decent sized incline, and at highway speeds when trying to pass. The last time i was in I had a ride alon with a tech and he admitted that there was definately something going on. This time they opened up a star case and the Jeep engineers said that there was nothing wrong with the car, that the transmission is acting completely normal. At the same time the tech that went on the test drive is now denying feeling anything (weird). I had called Jeep (the 1-877-IAM-JEEP number) and talked to someone who stated there is nothing anyone will do because there is nothing wrong with it. Also my service advisor told me that it was in my head.

So rant over my question to you guys who have had similar issues, will the diablosport with hemifever tuning cure this ( I have heard that it will but it was always a second hand account that I have heard this on) and does anyone know exactly what this is and why the jeeps do it, I thought it had something to do with the MDS but everytime I take it in they do trans software on it. I am just really confused, trying to figure out if this is something to worry about, or is it something that has no effect on longevity, because I dont know how much longer I can put up with idiots about this issue (AKA Jeep). Its actually my wifes car and she absolutely loves it except for this one issue, and I am ok with it if its not a longevity issue.

Thanks in advance for any advice. This is a great community. I want to love my Jeep again (but will never love the company after what I have been through)

I am not exactly sure what you are talking about with the "fishbite" term but I assume you are talking about erratic and harsh shifting. I recently got the diablosport tuner with hemifever tuning and it made a world of difference in drivability and shifting on my 2012 Hemi limited. Shifting is more predictable and smoother as well as the tranny seems to be in a more correct gear at all times. The tranny also will downshift when speeding up or passing without having to go WOT which is nice. Just a little pressure on the gas pedal and you get a downshift that enables the hemi to do it's work.

Love it. EXACT same thing they did to me on my '14 rough shifting in the morning. Gotta love how once they talk to corporate, WE become ridiculous ones.

This is the exact feedback I was looking for. Thanks for your response it is sad jeep left me high and dry but im glad with a tuner it is less noticeable. I was just using the terms the tech used on the test drive.

I went to the dealer and asked for this TSB to be applied and my fishbite and erratic trans issues are gone.

Glad I could help, the Diablosport canned tunes did nothing for the tranny shifting and very little for the power that I could tell. So if you get one go in knowing the DS tunes are not any good so allow Sean at Hemifever to do his thing and you will be pleased.

There is a flash coming out for it ("it" being the shudder we with 5.7's know and love) - initially it was scheduled for March 2013, then it was bumped to August 2013, last month my service tech told me the latest word is Q1 2014. Funny thing is I told him I would look for it in 2014 when he told me the initial date of March '13.

This is good news, but did the dealership you got this info from say if there is any effect on longevity from these issues until the fix comes out. Also would there be any reason why my dealership and the I am jeep people kept this info from me.

It is called "mushroom management". Common when the people being asked haven't a clue.

Thats a good way of putting it so jeep employs people to answer phones with the same common sense as a credit card collector, where a kindergartner would perform a better job.

Well I called jeep back today and the lady I talked to suggested I try one more time, then she said she could help me with the lemon law process. Is this the way to go? Jeep has been deadbeats and she said since it has been in six times for the same issue that there is plenty to go off of there. Also she was kind in apologizing for the service manager being an ass to me explaining how he had to spend two hours on my case and did not get a kickback and how the issue was all in my head.
