A motorcycle or a plane?

I was on my way home from gassing up doing about 45 when I heard what I thought was a little rice burner. It wasn't real loud, but I heard it over the radio. When I slowed to stop at a light, the noise stopped. I looked in my rear view mirror, no bike. A little further down the road it started again. I figured maybe a crop duster as quite a few fly around here.

After turning the radio off to hear better I realized it was coming from the Jeep. I did a little driving and came to these conclusions.

It is related to the speed of the car, starting around 45 mph and stopping below 30.

It is unrelated to engine speed.

Shifting into neutral and taking my foot off the gas made no difference. As the car slowed the noise reduced and then stopped.

I'm hoping it is a label or some piece of paper hitting something. I can't feel anything and the Jeep feels normal. By the time I got home it was raining, so getting underneath will have to wait.

If your jeep came supercharged from chrysler or with a jet engine, I'm going to be pissed mine didn't! Just kidding, with that aside, I've had that happen to me before when there was a rock or something stuck in the tread. Could you have picked up a rock or some debris in the tire tread?

It didn't sound like a stone in the tread, I've had that happen plenty of times. But, I will check that, 'cause you never know. Thanks.

Hey Bill,

Check for a loose label on the driveshaft.

...or some debris that are contacting the wheels or anything else that goes around and around...

X2, this is common.

If you have skid plates check to see if they are tight - I've had a high vibration noises several times generated by loose skid plates.

Brought the Jeep in today. They found the noise to be a wheel bearing which they had to order.

They did a courtesy oil change.

They did the recall (flash the body control module) for the DRLs
this one reset all the features to defaults.

They upgraded the uConnect software from 13.38 to 13.19 :confused::confused:

I spoke to the tech who was very apologetic. There is a rapid response whatever so they do it without asking. He said when he put his drive in and the first screen came up he saw the two different versions and figured his was the newest. I'll bet I could have made that mistake. The service manager checked and said they do not have the new one yet. They offered to do the update as soon as they get it, but I had the drive in the console.

I was home by 9:30 :)

I don't think I'm the first here to need one.

I use it on the beach, but the actual miles on the beach isn't much, due to the way the designed it. The stuck pedestrian only beaches every so often so you need to go back on the highway to get to the next section. I usually pick a beach and spend the day, because I'm not getting on the highway without airing up each time.

Cool which beaches? I've only been to carolla in OBX. But that was when I had an mdx years ago. Planning on going back next year.
