Grinding sound
When I take a turn or make a hard lane change at higher speeds I get a grinding metal on metal noise, and some strange shaking from the front wheels. Is this normal, if so what causes it? It sounds like Abs sounds but happens when my foot is not on the brake.

Re: Grinding sound
Sounds like it could be a hub bearing........

Re: Grinding sound
I agree, if you can get the noise by shifting the weight of the vehicle via turning, a hub is a good place to start.

How many miles?

You could try the old lift and grab the wheel and shake it, but that'll only tell you if the hub is really bad. You could get a noise without any noticeable movement (but if you feel it in the steering wheel, it's really bad).

Re: Grinding sound
i would say wheel bearing , how many miles do you have ?
you can check them "easily" when they are really bad , by lifting the car on a jack , grab the wheel and shake it left-right and top bottom , if you have any play it's normally the bearing .
mine where not totally "destroyed" I had the sound but not the play in the bearing an it was difficult for me to find out ...

Re: Grinding sound
I had the same when taking a hard fast right turn, it was a bad right front half shaft.
