WK2 and Mud and Snow!

My family and I took a trip to Utah and today we were on a road near/in Zion national park.

The weather today was pretty crappy. Some good solid raid and at 7000 feet it was snowing!

We drove thru the park and reached a right turn near a reservoir that was a dirt road. This was right past Whispering Pine ranch.

Shortly this turned into a slush and mud dirt road. This road went on for a couple miles (it traced its way around the reservoir). The mud got about 4 to 5 inches deep in certain sections along with some slushy soup mixed in.

The Jeep Summit in Auto and Mud/Sand drove thru this stuff like a champ.

Not once did we feel like we were going to get stuck. We did slide a bit in some of the deeper sections but the traction control reeled that in and we continued straight.

I have Goodyear Silent Armor tires on the Jeep and they were around 41psi (I did not air down)

We were all very impressed with the solid footed confidence of the vehicle in these conditions.

I've gone off road with the WK2 before but never mud/snow. It was a lot of fun.

Hmmm, I thought the National Parks were closed because of the goverment shutdown. Good to know your Jeep got you through it though.

I think we were on Kolob Reservoir Road.

Anyway, you can drive thru Zion but can't stop.

The weather today was pretty much all four seasons. It was great.

There was a lot of snow on the ground up in the high elevation and it was around 32 degrees when we were up there today.

I live in St. George and the weather was crappy down here also; just drizzling rain off and on all day and a little cool; also saw sun for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Zion is a great place to find little areas to put your Summit through it's paces.

That's why I have a 1080P dash-cam for such instances. ;)

Nice job. The tires made a world of difference. I think the outcome may have been different if you had the Latitudes. They are horrible in everything but dry pavement. I can't wait until mine wear out.
