Sun damage?

Does anyone else have this problem? I've had it on the back wiper for quite some time (a bit on the front as well), but today I climbed up and checked out the top rails and they are TERRIBLE on the inner part! What can I do to touch this up? I've tried armor all, etc on the non-roof parts in the past but it just doesn't last very long on making it not-so-gray. The sun damage dots have gotten worse since then, so it definitely needs some paint or something.

Re: Sun damage?

not sure about the top brooke, but the rear wiper arm is metal and could be painted with some flat black paint. some sanding first, then etching primer, then the black.

Yeah, my rear wiper is shot too. I need to get a replacement from the dealer when I go in for a new sump plug.

Not sure if the sun caused it or what but yeah, I think a replacement is the only way to go.

As for the roof rails, I'd guess its just bonded contaminants or overspray. Wouldn't worry about that as they're not all that visible unless you look down on the roof though.

One problem I see and would be a real easy fix is to replace the Memphis sticker with an Ole Miss sticker. Just my 2 cents! Hotty Toddy!

True, no one is really going to see it... but I am interested in what could cause it to speckle white like that.. weird.

Best option is to have them painted or replaced with new ones. If you're going the paint route -- you might want to consider color matching them :D

mine were like that too. just do what robpp said and it will look new again
that black part under the wiper is starting to look faded too... if you use some mother black to black it will also look like new

Here ya go lady...brand new wiper arm for CHEAP...
Click the link and let it load...you might need to switch models and stuff because I just used my 99 4.0L WJ but it is easy and cheap to replace.

Thanks! Looks like it'd cost about the same to just replace as it would to buy some paint.. :)
