adding satellite radio and ipod/aux to RAQ radio

I have what I have detemined is a RAQ radio on my 2005 GC limited and would like to add both an ipod/aux input as well as a hard wired satellite radio. Found which type of radio I had useing this link http://www.wkjeeps.com/wk_radios.htm

I understand the factory satellite add ons are expensive so i just would like to have one of those separate sat radio units hard wired (and not through a "tuner radio connection" as I understand the fidelity isn't so great) Is it possible to add both ipod/aux and sat radio (hard wired) to the factory radio? Or would they both use the same connection on the factory radio so its a one or the other proposition? Even if its possible to use the factory radio for this, is it more cost effective to buy and install a aftermarket system? I don't plan on changing my speakers.

Finally I saw this online recently and wondering if it would work with the factory radio (so it shows the sat radio text info) http://www.amazon.com/SIRIUS-SCC1-Co.../dp/B000Q9UFKU

i think you will have to tap into the harness in the back of the raq to get the sat radio added. either that or buy something from jeep.

you would need that thing you linked to, an antenna on the roof, and go here to find which pins to tap into..... http://dto.vftis.com/mopar/main.asp

I went through this myself, though I swapped my RAQ for an REC.
Either way same thing; You can add both the iPod and factory SAT. The iPod adapter here comes with multiplexer box that serves as an in/out that the SAT receiver here connects to. All this cost a lot, with the parts and install kits sat $400 ipod $200 and another $100 to the dealer cause i chickened out on drilling the two holes in the roof for the antenna. You might get more for less $$$ going aftermarket, I just don't like the added clutter.I think the iPod adapter from jeep has the standard iPod connector and a 3.5mm headphone jack you could feed an aftermarket sat deal through. The SCC1 receiver on amazon won't work with the RAQ.

Re: adding satellite radio and ipod/aux to RAQ radio

Thanks- that info is helpful. I am surprised the RAQ can't support the SCC1, but that is only because a Crutchfield search said it would- but sure you're right as that would be too easy and cheap to actually work! Considering the cost of adding both to the factory radio it seems the Clarion VX 400 would be a reasonable alternative. $380 gets the headunit (with DVD, Bluetooth and an aux jack in in front for ipod but no NAV) and another $50-100 for Sat radio adapter. So $450-500 plus maybe $100 for additional parts for install, seems a better option. Now I need to learn to install...
