How do I know which core to purchase?
Confused as to what year throttle body you need to purchase for porting? Here is a brief guide to which TB you should purchase. Due to DCX's love for mid-year changes, I cannot be 100% sure that this is correct, but you can always double check by looking up the part number on the throttle body.
XJ/WJ/TJ 99 and later (excluding 2006) 4.0 I6 motor- Find a 99-05 throttle body. 2006 models supposedly were changed.
4.7 WJ, 99-04 (including HO models): There was a change in PCM coding and throttle body layout in mid-2003, but from '03 and later both old and new PCM/TB layouts were used. The new style 4.7 TB uses a single bolt to secure the Idle Air Control Sensor. The old style uses two bolts. 99-02 are 100% old style . 03-04 could be either, you have to look on your current TB to see which you need.
IF YOU HAVE THE ONE-SCREW IAC MODEL TB: you can use any one-screw IAC model 4.7 TB from 2003-2007. There is no difference between the one-screw WJ 4.7 TB and the 05-07 WK 4.7 TBs. ALL 05-07 WK 4.7 TBs are the one-screw model.
2008+ WK 4.7 throttle bodies are drive-by-wire (electronic throttle control aka ETC) and do not interchange with the older cable-driven units.
3.7 WK: 05-06 use a cable driven throttle body. 07 and later use an drive by wire TB. these do not interchange. 04 and earlier 3.7 TBs, as far as I can tell, will not work.
5.7 WKs: 05-07 models use the same throttle bodies as the 05-07 Magnums , Chargers, and 300s. RAM, DURANGO, AND ASPEN THROTTLE BODIES WILL NOT WORK.
Re: How do I know which core to purchase?
