Intermittent seat motor

Hi everyone,

I have the six-way w/lumbar (non-heated) power seats in my WJ.

I just started having an intermittent issue with the driverís side vertical movement. I have to play with the seat switch in order to get it to move at all however, itís intermittent. I've tried the switch standing outside the Jeep with no success. Iíve verified there are no obstructions underneath the seat and it appears everything looks correct. This appears to be mechanical vs. electrical since I can hear/feel the seating trying to move when activating the switch. Do I have a motor(s) or a switch issue ?
Thanks

If you can hear/feel the seat trying to move, then the switch should be ok. Maybe that the hinge points need a bit of lubrication?

Hi, thank you for your quick response. Should I use WD-40 and where exactly are the hinge points ?

Thanks

Best is that you look yourself when you move the seat up/down, you can then easily see which parts are the hinges. On mine they where moving with difficulty as well, however it never completely stopped moving. The hinges where completely dry on my jeep and corroded, which probably caused quite some friction.
You could use WD 40, or some dry lub. I used some grafite spray, which dries up quickly and worked well.
You could put a light coat of grease on the spindles as well.

Sounds like I need to do this on my WJ. The up/down function stopped shortly after I purchased it.
