Maximum Care question...

So, I was rummaging through the documentation and noticed that it does not appear as though the FCW (Forward Collision Warning) system, the Adaptive Cruise, OR the QuadraLift system are covered.

Am I missing something or misreading?

Maximum Care New Vehicles Coverage

Re: Maximum Care question...

Unless the system is expressively excluded from coverage the system is covered. That is my understanding of the Max Care service contract.

In the provided link, the detailed list of suspension items covered does not appear to mention the air system, as in the compressor, for example.

Re: Maximum Care question...

On the actual contract the air suspension system is mentioned under front suspension, but not under rear suspension.

The folks who write Chrysler's documentation and web sites leave a lot to be desired. Version 5 of the owners manual still doesn't fully align with the actual vehicle.

Contract say anything about the Collision and Cruise systems?

I can't imagine how expensive those damn things would be to fix.

I have the MaxCare and the only item so far that I've been told is not covered is the key fob.

You can Google "sample maximum care contract" to get some PDF's of sample blank MaxCare contracts. You can see that they clearly indicate that the only exceptions to coverage are the items listed in the "what is not covered" section, and the list of items covered that follows is prefixed with a "included in coverage - but not limited to" - so the list is not really the authoritative source. This is an exclusionary contract. It covers anything except the list of items not covered. The part that worries me is the exclusion of the exhaust system. While in the past, those systems were a little more than a few pipes and tubs, today (and with the help of emissions regulations) they are a complex and expensive system that might cost thousands of dollars to a user down the road, and yet - no coverage (especially us - CRD owners).

This won't help the CRD folks but us 5.7l Hemi owners check this strategy out...when mine arrives next month I am installing the Corsa Catback exhaust (for sound reasons) but the side benefit is that is comes with a lifetime warranty, costs $1,400 with free install by Corsa since I live 10 miles from the factory and I will then have the brand new OEM exhaust ($3,431 list) that I should have no problem parting out over time to cover most/all of the Corsa cost. So, I will have obtained a killer sounding, stainless steel exhaust, for basically free, and upgraded from no warranty to a lifetime warranty. Bonus, since Corsa bought Volant they will install their new version of the CAI for free too! I'm a friggin' genius!

My understanding is that unless it's "excluded", it's covered in the MaxCare service contract...

Here's the contract. Read it for yourselves and see what's covered, and excluded.

jacko15, thanks for posting the plan and your point is well taken. Things are probably nearly identical but the devil is in the details for warranties. Just to clarify, the attached plan does not apply to 2014 Grand Cherokees. It says it's for "For Lifetime Powertrain Warranty Owners" and has a plan code of LPM100N. However, the '14 JGC comes with 3/36 Basic and 5/100 Powertrain warranties. The correct MVP Maxcare Lifetime extended service contract option code is LM100N according to Mopar Vehicle Protection for Jeep
