Final Drive Ratio with Tow Group & fuel economy
 
I'm considering a V6 Cherokee. The final drive ratio changes from 3.251 to 3.517 if you select the tow group. How much might you expect this to change general non-towing performance and fuel economy?

I'd be using the tow hitch for a bike rack or for nothing the vast, vast majority of the time, so I'm not sure it's worth the change in final drive ratio.

I seriously doubt you will be able to notice the difference in mileage. The total gear change is less than 10%. The lower gears will give you slightly better acceleration. But again, I doubt the butt dyno will be able to tell a difference.

Your city mileage would actually improve with that gear ratio change however the change would be minimal.

It won't change the mileage in any significant way and a bit better performance in city driving.. The tow grp is good investment. You have a use for it now and you never know what your future needs might be. Plus it's good for resale value.:thumbsup:
