I just replaced the DRL bulbs in my 2k11. There was visible char on each of the sockets and the fogged up lens above the bulb. I haven't done anything about it. Sounds like it's this way on all of them.

Owner of halogen headlight equipped Grand cherokees don't have this problem.

There is not much you can do apart from switching to LED/CREE bulb.

Here is what causes the problem.

Since you are in china you have the Export headlights.

EXPORT

These headlight housings use the dual contact 3157 bulb for the 8 watt park light and the 21 watt daytime running light.

This essentially has the socket lit all time.

8watt portion of the bulb as the night park light. The dimmer portion of the bulb has more resistance to produce 8 watts of light. Resistance is traded off as heat.

The Daytime running light uses the 21 watt portion of the bulb. The resistance is less so the heat out put is a less than the park light produces.

The main reason that you are seeing burning is because of the amperage that is being fed to the socket.

Each daytime running light is fed by a separate relay that has a maximum of 30 amps.

The high amperage is the culprit here and putting excess power to the bulbs causing them to run hot all the time.

You can fit 4114 incandecsant bulb which are designed for DRL use. They are 14v bulbs so they handle the heat better than the 12v bulb

or you can use a 12v LED or CREE or COB style bulbs. If you use this type of bulb make sure you purchase decent quality bulbs so they last a while.

We all know the WK2
