Police WK2

I was out photographing the NYC Marathon and caught a WK2 that had police lights. I never seen this before and was quite taken a back. What are your thoughts? Looks nice, the police lights could have been place in a better location?

Looks sweet. Would be even better if it was a diesel. ;)

Looks like a Trailhawk. Are you positive it was NYPD, or just an emergency response (first reponder?) vehicle?

The city cops in my neighborhood have a WK2, Mineral Grey color with stealth lights. I am not sure if it was a V8 or a V6.

Cheers,

We have one ordered for my plain clothes unit (Royal Canadian Mounted Police). It's going to be 2014 Billet Laredo V6 with OR1. It will be outfitted with stealth lights as well. We are also getting a Nissan Pathfinder. I'll be choosing to drive the Jeep lol being as my personal ride is 14 Limited V8 Lux2 with 20s and a few other goodies. The other guy in my unit who chose the Pathfinder believes they are the old school body on frame off road machines of ole. He will be sadly mistaken lol. It's now a minivan with 4 doors and a CVT (barf!).

I don't think it was a first responder vehicle. It looks like the streets were closed off and any vehicles with lights appear to have police officers inside of them. Given what happened in Boston, I'm not surprise at the cops involved. It does look badass. Anyone know if those are the 20" rims? If so what tires are they running?

My husband said they do have WK2's in the NYPD, he has seen a few of them. I think mostly laredo's though, I'll ask if he's seen a trailhawk

The Trailhawks came with grey 18" wheels, and GY Silent Armors (same OE size as the rest: 265/60R18) However, those aren't Silent Armors.

what's the purpose of blocking the license plate on a LEO car. Some of us can run license plates and know for sure.

Some LE license plates are registered to the owning municipality. The poster is likely doing the police a service by not broadcasting the plate number which could be shared among shit rats (criminals for those kinder folk out there) and targeted.

that could also be an officers person vehicle that he/she put lights on to work extra jobs. I have had lights on all of my personal vehicles from corvettes to lifted trucks, and soon a '14 wk2 limited wth orII, v8, for this reason. in which case the license plate would listed the individual officer as the owner and to protect their privacy the plate should be covered.
