4.7 to HO swap

Okay not to beat a dead horse but, I've already purchased remanufactured 4.7 HO, I plan on putting it in my 2002 dodge Durango which had a standard 4.7, both being of JTEC design and same year the PCM do match up although I understand the HO PCM would have a more aggressive program. What is this about the knock sensors? from what I am reading my vehicle has provisions for one where or what exactly am I looking for?
Any help would be appreciated I am not a master mechanic but side by side comparison and just reading the specifications the HO is a much beefier engine one that I see lasting a very long time, Not that the standard wasn’t mine had 170,000 when it jumped time.

the HO has 2 knock sensors. I don't have a wiring diagram for the durango, so I can't help you any further on that.

You will need to use the PCM for the HO. It's a lot different mapping. You'll have to get it flashed to have your VIN on it though.

Re: 4.7 to HO swap

Okay thanks guys, is the SCT tuner your talking about what's sold on Air Ram for a good piece of change, plus you have to purchase the fuel reading gage and apparatus to make it work, is there a way someone can just take my PCM be it standard or HO and make it work to see all the benefits of this brand new HO engine? I am in middle Tennessee (ft Campbell actually) and have been looking for a jeep with a HO junked but there are just none to be found as of yet.

I have not found a harness but I see on rock auto the knock sensor pigtail sells for 25 bucks, I think I will purchase them so I don’t have to remove the intake manifold later if I do find a HO harness, from what I understand the engine will experience pinging if I don’t utilize the knock sensors, or run at least 89 octane. Below are vehicles with years which run the same sensor, can I use their harness in my vehicle or how do I know a vehicles harness will plug into my vehicle?

B&G performance can tune/format the PCM to your vehicle. No need for a sct tuner. Im not sure on the harnesses...but it looks like they all use the same...so it should plug right in...
