Is this normal?

I took my son out for a drive in the SRT this morning. When I gave it a hit of acceleration, the car left smoke behind. I can get it to smoke on hard acceleration if I try. It's about a month old and has never been driven hard. Oil level seems just about right no loss.

What color smoke?

Ive always heard it takes a bit for the rings to seat and you may get that on start up or hard acceleration when new. Drive that baby hard...let those rings seat themselves.

Re: Is this normal?

It was a puff of smoke in my rearview mirror and it's hard to tell the colour. I'm paying attention to the cars in front of me. If I goose the throttle at idle there's nothing. After checking oil carefully, it's down a bit though. It needed about 2/3 of quart to get to the mid point of "safe" on the stick. Has about 1000 Miles ~1500 Kilometres. A little Oil consumption in a new performance motor would make sense. My V8 Overland burned a bit too. I'm wondering if it's something else like blow by? Tail pipes don't have much other than a little bit of carbon.

Thanks Scott, I don't baby it but I don't beat the crap out of it either. :)

I've had this happen when I've started a vehicle then quickly turned it off then at some later point come back started it and driven off and under heavy throttle and gotten some white smoke, which clears after that.
